Dimensions of Urdu Poetry

Urdu is the centuries old language and the British soldiers took special interest in developing it. Urdu is commonly referred as “Rekhta” which is the combination of three languages i.e. Arabic, Persian and Turkish. It is widely spoken language of Pakistan and more than 600 million people speak Urdu in South Asia. Through different experiencing Urdu language and poetry is so rich in its ideas, culture, accent and expression.

With the help of sweet love stories the language and its literature can survive. Without love, romance and vision, life will become too bore. Many individuals highlighted different social issues through their sensitive poetry. These include Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Allama Iqbal, Habib jalib and many others in the field of poetry. These poets used their poetry to criticize dictatorship like Injustice and the fall of Dhaka.

Allama Iqbal and along with many others played a vital role in the fight of freedom. Although Iqbal was the national poet of Pakistan and he made the Muslims to realize the lost glory in their land.

Many poets used Poetry to express the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), his followers and his family. One of the famous poet in Urdu named as Mir Anees, was the best Marsia writers. Marsia is the specified form of Urdu poetry. Many poets tried to emphasize the aspects of incorporate religion into life through their touching poetry.

Today Urdu poetry is standing on strong foundations and if the poets are brilliant as yesterday, nothing can stop Urdu from flourishing.
